Radical Cartography

One of my favourite webites, if anyone knows any others like it let me know!Radical Cartography explores the meta side of map-making, challenging traditional approaches and presenting various political and literary projects.

Maps aren’t ‘real’. What is presented on a map is like any other research projects; heavily influenced by the preconceptions and judgements and worldviews of its creators. We all know the mercator projection; showing a riduclously large Europe at the top and centre of the map, probably influenced by European thought at the time (summed up as “we are the kings of the world!!!! megalolz”).

You can find out more about the Mercator projection here
